Under the supervision of a faculty mentor, the student will complete the preliminary examination and prepare the dissertation prospectus required by the department for admission to candidacy. Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory grading only. May be repeated. Prerequisite(s): Completion of all required course work for the Ph.D. in Germanic Studies and approval of the committee. May be taken concurrently with non-required or elective course work.
