Completion of the American Board of Prosthodontics Written Examination (ABP Section A) during enrollment in the UIC Prosthodontic Specialty Program. Course Information: Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory grading only. Prerequisite(s): Open only to students in the Prosthosontic Specialty Program.

PROS 533. American Board of Prosthodontics Patient Completion and Documentation. 3 hours.

Completion of the documentation, imaging, and oral defense necessary to pass Part 2, 3, or 4 of the American Board of Prosthodontics while enrolled in the College of Dentistry. PROS 604. Introduction to Prosthodontics I. 11 hours.

Students develop and improve skills that will provide enhanced performance and understanding in the specialty area of advanced prosthodontics, specifically in the area of fixed prosthodontics and laboratory techniques; and dental materials. Course Information: No graduation credit. Prerequisite(s): Approval of the department. Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) or equivalent foreign professional dental degree is required. PROS 605. Introduction to Prosthodontics II. 16 hours.

Diagnosis and treatment planning, occlusion, implant prosthodontics, prosthodontics clinic; and review of current literature. Course Information: No graduation credit. PROS 606. Introduction to Prosthodontics III. 16 hours.

Will primarily involve patient treatment in the prosthodontics clinic, as well as diagnosis and treatment planning, occlusion, implant prosthodontics, and a literature review. PROS 610. Advanced Prosthodontic Clinics I. 0-12 hours.

A clinical course designed to cover fundamental and advanced prosthodontic principles and patient care Course Information: May be repeated to a maximum of 16 hours. Prerequisite(s): PROS 611 and matriculation into the Advanced Certificate in Advanced Prosthodontics program.

PROS 611. Advanced Fixed Prosthodontics and Laboratory Technique. 18 hours.

Review of the fundamentals of fixed prosthodontic restorative techniques in conjunction with laboratory exercises involving tooth preparation, waxing, and fabrication of metal and ceramic restorations. Course Information: Prerequisite(s): Matriculation into the Advanced Certificate in Advanced Prosthodontics program.

PROS 612. Diagnosis and Treatment Planning Seminars. 1 hour.

A seminar course devoted to the review of complex prosthodontic reconstruction therapy; cases for discussion are presented by the faculty and students. Course Information: May be repeated to a maximum of 3 hours. Prerequisite(s): Matriculation into the Advanced Certificate in Advanced Prosthodontics program.

PROS 613. Perio-Prosthetic Seminars. 2 hours.

A seminar course devoted to the discussion of prosthodontic reconstruction therapy involving significant periodontal treatment; cases for discussion are presented by the students. Course Information: Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory grading only. May be repeated to a maximum of 6 hours. Prerequisite(s): Matriculation into the Advanced Certificate in Advanced Prosthodontics or Periodontics.

PROS 614. Prosthodontic Literature Review - Fixed. 5 hours.

A seminar course providing a comprehensive review of the literature concerning all areas of fixed prosthodontic therapy. Current issues of the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry are reviewed. Course Information: Prerequisite(s): Matriculation into the Advanced Certificate in Advanced Prosthodontics program.

PROS 615. Advanced Complete Denture Prosthodontics. 1 hour.

A seminar, laboratory and clinical course with the discussion of complete denture construction with laboratory and clinical experience in complete denture fabrication. Course Information: Prerequisite(s): Matriculation into the Advanced Certificate in Advanced Prosthodontics program.

PROS 617. Advanced Occlusion/TMJ Disorders. 2 hours.

A lecture and seminar discussion of the advanced concepts of occlusion, articulation, occlusal analysis, diagnosis, and treatment of functional disturbances. Course Information: Prerequisite(s): Matriculation into the Advanced Certificate in Advanced Prosthodontics program or the M.S. in Oral Sciences program and consent of the department head.

PROS 618. Reconstructive Implantology. 2 hours.

A seminar course involving treatment planning considerations and the technical procedures in implant prosthodontics including subperiosteal and endosseous implants, and preprosthetic augmentation of edentulous ridges. Course Information: Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory grading only. Prerequisite(s): Enrollment in the Certificate Program in Periodontics or Prosthodontics.

PROS 620. Advanced Prosthodontic Clinics II. 0-12 hours.

A clinical course designed to cover fundamental and advanced prosthodontic principles and patient care. Course Information: May be repeated to a maximum of 24 hours. Prerequisite(s): PROS 610 and matriculation into the Advanced Certificate in Advanced Prosthodontics program.

PROS 621. Maxillofacial Prosthetics. 2 hours.

A lecture/seminar format which reviews the principles of maxillofacial prosthetics including impression techniques, laboratory procedures, acquired and congential defects, surgery, oncology and the psychosocial aspects. PROS 623. Prosthodontic Literature Review - Removable. 5 hours.

A seminar course providing a comprehensive review of the literature concerning all areas of removable prosthodontic therapy. Current issues of the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry are reviewed. PROS 624. Advanced Removable Partial Denture Prosthodontics. 4 hours.

A survey of the fundamentals of removable partial denture design, fabrication, rationale for use, patient selection and advanced techniques for attachment to the hard tissues. Course Information: Prerequisite(s): Matriculation into the Advanced Certificate in Advanced Prosthodontics program.

PROS 628. Comprehensive Dental Implant Care Literature Review. 2 hours.

A critical literature review pertaining to dental implant therapy with a focus on the existing evidence base. The comprehensive reading list includes all aspects of implant care. Course Information: Prerequisite(s): Matriculation into the Advanced Certificate in Advanced Prosthodontics program.

PROS 630. Advanced Prosthodontic Clinics III. 0-12 hours.
