Third Year students to become familiar with the specialty of Anesthesiology. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 2nd Year.

CANE 602. Anesthesia Pain Management. 4 hours.

To provide medical students a perspective of acute and chronic pain resulting from surgical and non-surgical conditions, severe traumas, burns, etc. Students will attend teaching sessions that will allow the students to develop a core knowledge base. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

CANE 603. Acute & Chronic Pain Management. 4 hours.

The elective provides exposure to the clinical management of both acute and chronic pain. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

CANE 604. Anesthesiology. 4 hours.

The primary goal of the clerkship is to develop the students’ basic knowledge, clinical skills, and judgment needed to understand the management of patients during the perioperative period so that anesthetic/surgical risk is minimized Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

CANE 690. Away Rotation in Anesthesiology. 1-15 hours.

An elective in Anesthesiology taken outside the University of Illinois College of Medicine with prior approval. Course Information: May be repeated. Students may enroll in more than one section per term. Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.
