Courses 

CEMD 601. Emergency Ultrasound. 4 hours.

This Emergency Medicine elective is designed to help incorporate emergency bedside ultrasound as a tool for diagnosis and treatment.  Current literature and future applications of emergency bedside ultrasound will be explored while on rotation. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

CEMD 602. Medical Toxicology. 4 hours.

The main objective of this elective is to introduce the senior medical student to the specialty of clinical toxicology. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

CEMD 640. Core Emergency Medicine. 4 hours.

This elective will be a beginning exposure to the evaluation and care of outpatient dermatology patients as well as an opportunity to learn from scheduled formal lectures, conferences, journal clubs, and inpatient consultations. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

CEMD 641. Advanced Emergency Medicine. 4 hours.

To provide in depth EM knowledge to students interested in the specialty as a career path. Students will be expected to manage their own patients within the limits of the ED setting with oversight by EM attendings and senior residents. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

CEMD 642. Advanced Emergency Medicine (ACMC). 4 hours.

CEMD 660. Emergency Medicine Clinical Research. 2-4 hours.

This Emergency Medicine Clinical Research Associates elective program is designed to teach students the fundamentals of clinical research. Students work with faculty screening and identifying patients for a variety of clinical projects. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

CEMD 690. Away Rotation in Emergency Medicine. 1-15 hours.

An elective in Emergency Medicine taken outside the University of Illinois College of Medicine with prior approval. Course Information: May be repeated. Students may enroll in more than one section per term. Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

CEMD 694. Special Topics in Emergency Medicine. 1-15 hours.

Special or new topics in Emergency Medicine. Course Information: May be repeated. Students may enroll in more than one section per term. Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

CEMD 696. Individualized Elective in Emergency Medicine. 1-15 hours.

Individualized elective in Emergency Medicine under the supervision of a faculty member or physician to fit students' interests or customized experiences with prior approval.
