CMDN 601. MedPeds. 4 hours.

This elective provided students with a broad-based MedPeds ambulatory care experience. The elective provides a full spectrum of primary health care for newborns, infants, children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. Course Information: Field work required. CMDN 602. Cardiology Consult. 4 hours.

Students will have a opportunity to observe and interpret cardiovascular diagnostic, therapeutic procedures and assessed in their electrocardiographic interpretation skills as well as echo, stress testing and cardiac catheterization related matters. CMDN 603. Asthma/Allergy and Immunology. 4 hours.

This elective is to provide medical students with instruction and experience in the diagnosis and management of asthma, common allergic/immunologic disorders encountered and about disorders or diseases that require referral to a specialist. CMDN 604. Sleep Medicine. 2 hours.

Sleep elective rotation for students will expose them to multidisciplinary and personalized care for sleep disorders. Students will be expected to see new and established patients for evaluation of sleep disorders. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

CMDN 605. Hepatology. 4 hours.

This elective is to provide students with adequate knowledge of and comfort with the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic liver diseases and their subsequent complications. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

CMDN 606. Disability Medicine. 2 hours.

The purpose of this course is to teach medical students how to provide high-quality health care to individuals with physical disabilities and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

CMDN 607. Transplant Nephrology. 2-4 hours.

Students will gain clinical exposure to kidney transplants, develop a deeper understanding of transplant renal pathophysiology, immunology from a clinical perspective, manage acute and chronic kidney diseases. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

CMDN 608. Cardiology. 4 hours.

Cardiology elective will provide students will gain experience in clinical consultative cardiology, develop cardiovascular exam skills, focus on the evaluation, management of cardiovascular disease in a consultative role. CMDN 609. Endocrinology. 2-4 hours.

To provide training and experience for the student to develop the cognitive knowledge, clinical skills, and practice competence in the field of endocrinology and metabolism. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

CMDN 610. Gastroenterology. 4 hours.

The program is designed to familiarize the students with the diagnosis and management of a spectrum of gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary disorders. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

CMDN 611. Geriatric Medicine. 4 hours.

In the Geriatric medicine elective students will learn about the mode of presentation of illnesses in older persons and how to assess multiple overlapping illnesses. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

CMDN 612. Hematology/Oncology. 4 hours.

This rotation is designed to allow the student to understand the complex decision making required of a consultant for patients with malignant and nonmalignant hematologic disorders and oncologic consults. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

CMDN 613. Infectious Diseases. 4-8 hours.

CMDN 614. Nephrology. 4 hours.

The nephrology elective allows the students to actively participate in consult rounds. In this setting, they see a variety of renal problems and learn the differential diagnosis of renal disease and the indications for dialysis. Course Information: Field work required. The four-week senior experience in internal medicine will provide an educational experience for M4 clinical clerks that offers graduates supervised responsibility for patient care in the area of general internal medicine.
