MD - Family and Community Medicine-Peoria (PFCM)

Courses

PFCM 601. Family Medicine. 2-4 hours.

This 2 to 4-week elective will provide outpatient experience at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria Residency in Family Medicine at the Carle Health Peoria on Main (FMC). A focus on ambulatory OB is available at outside clinics. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

PFCM 602. Maternal/Newborn. 2-4 hours.

This 2 or 4-week Family Medicine elective will expose the student to the prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and first outpatient follow-up care. The focus of care will include the mother, fetus, and newborn. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

PFCM 680. Family Medicine - Sub-Internship. 2-4 hours.

The goal is to provide an educational experience where medical students will have direct responsibility for patient care under the supervision of the family medicine senior residents and attending physicians. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

PFCM 690. Away Rotation in Family and Community Medicine. 1-15 hours.

An elective in Family Medicine taken outside the University of Illinois College of Medicine with prior approval. Course Information: May be repeated. Students may enroll in more than one section per term. Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

PFCM 694. Special Topics in Family and Community Medicine. 1-15 hours.

Special or new topics in Family Medicine. Course Information: May be repeated. Students may enroll in more than one section per term. Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

PFCM 696. Individualized Elective in Family and Community Medicine. 1-15 hours.

Individualized elective in Family Medicine under the supervision of a faculty member or physician to fit students' interests or customized experiences with prior approval. Course Information: May be repeated. Students may enroll in more than one section per term. Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 2nd Year.

PFCM 697. Research Elective in Family and Community Medicine. 1-15 hours.

Student-proposed research under a faculty member in Family Medicine; available with prior approval. Course Information: May be repeated. Students may enroll in more than one section per term. Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 2nd Year.
