PHSP 660. Anatomical & Clinical Pathology. 4 hours.

The student will participate in the daily work of surgical pathology and cytopathology in the laboratory in a pathologist assistant-preceptor role. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

PHSP 661. Community Health. 2 hours.

This elective is designed to develop the skills of the M3 and M4 student in the management of an undifferentiated patient in the community health setting. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

PHSP 662. Forensic Pathology. 2-4 hours.

Students will follow Board certified Forensic Pathologists through a very busy consultant private practice serving Illinois Coroners in central Illinois in Bloomington and Peoria autopsy facilities. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

PHSP 663. Functioning Disabilities Health in the Community. 2 hours.

This elective is designed to develop the skills of the M3 and M4 student in the management of a person with intellectual, developmental, or physical disability in the community health setting. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

PHSP 664. Medicolegal Death Investigation and Forensic Pathology. 4 hours.

Students will observe and participate in both medicolegal and medical/non-legal autopsies at the Peoria County Coroner’s Office with a Board Certified Forensic Pathologist. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

PHSP 665. Pharmacology Basic Science. 4 hours.

This online elective is designed to reinforce the fundamental principles of pharmacology in M3 and M4 years. It will allow the students to integrate the scientific basis of pharmacotherapy with clinical experiences. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

PHSP 667. Quality and Safety. 4 hours.

The primary goal of this elective is to provide applied learning opportunities for the content of quality improvement and patient safety in healthcare settings. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

PHSP 668. Advanced Anatomy. 4 hours.

This elective will incorporate cadaveric anatomic dissection, radiologic diagnostic interpretation and various educational modalities of anatomy technology. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

PHSP 669. Applied Advanced Anatomy - 3D Modeling. 4 hours.

This elective provides an opportunity for the student to gain hands-on experience developing anatomical location, identification, and dissection skills as well as demonstrating application of 2D anatomical imaging information to a 3D mode. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

PHSP 670. Compassion, Resilience, and Emotional Awareness Training for Healthcare Professionals. 2 hours.

This course will enable development of skills that promote emotional awareness, attention stabilization and clarity. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

PHSP 690. Away Rotation in Health Sciences Education & Pathology. 1-15 hours.

An elective in Health Sciences Educaiton & Pathology taken outside the University of Illinois College of Medicine with prior approval. Course Information: May be repeated. Students may enroll in more than one section per term. Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.
