PSRG 602. Pediatric & Congenital Heart Surgery. 2-4 hours.
This elective will introduce the embryology, anatomy, and pathophysiology of congenital heart disease and the strategies and techniques of surgical treatment. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.
PSRG 604. Orthopedic Surgery. 2-4 hours.
Each student will develop knowledge of specific orthopedic medical conditions and problems and gain experience in the treatment
of these conditions and problems. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.
PSRG 605. Hand and Plastic Surgery. 2-4 hours.
Student responsibilities will include evaluation and management of patients in the office two days per week, participation in
surgical procedures, and evening and weekend trauma cases occasionally. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.
PSRG 606. Otolaryngology. 2-4 hours.
The elective is designed to introduce the student to the field of otolaryngology and allow him/her to understand the basic clinical and pathologic conditions treated by this specialty. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.
PSRG 607. Plastic Surgery. 2-4 hours.

PSRG 608. Cardiac Surgery. 2-4 hours.
Student responsibilities include evaluation and management of patients in the office two days per week, participation in

PSRG 609. Advanced General Surgery. 4 hours.
The student will function in the capacity of an intern as an integral part of the surgical team in the hospital and operating room as well as office outpatient setting. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.
PSRG 610. Pediatric Surgery. 4 hours.
This elective is particularly focused on the student who has developed interest in surgery involving infants from birth to adolescents. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.
PSRG 611. Anesthesia/Pain Management. 2-4 hours.
The elective is designed for the student to observe, discuss and participate in all phases of anesthesia within a clinical setting. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.
PSRG 612. Non-Operative Orthopedics. 2-4 hours.
This elective will involve full care of the non-operative patient as the majority of orthopedics is non-surgical. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.
PSRG 613. Advanced Thoracic Surgery. 4 hours.
The student will function in the capacity of an intern as an integral part of the surgical team in the hospital and operating room as well as the outpatient setting. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.
PSRG 614. Urology. 2-4 hours.
The elective will acquaint the student with the practice of urology, including a significant amount of nephrology and general medicine Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.
PSRG 615. Vascular Surgery. 2 hours.
This elective is offered to students interested in learning more about management of peripheral vascular diseases. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.
PSRG 641. Surgical Critical Care/Trauma. 4 hours.
Surgical Critical Care offers an exciting rotation in the care and management of critically ill surgical and trauma patients.
Integrates understanding and application of anatomy and pathophysiology to care of diverse patient population. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

PSRG 661. Surgical Residency Preparedness Practicum. 2 hours.
SURGPREP – Surgical Residency Preparedness Practicum – This course is particularly focused on the student who has committed to a career in surgical specialties. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.
PSRG 680. Surgery Sub-Internship. 4 hours.
The purpose of the Sub-Internship is to familiarize the student with responsibilities of a resident and to aid in the transition from medical student to resident physician. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.
