RMDN 601. Adult Care Medicine. 2-4 hours.

Sharpen skills as future diagnosticians and improve interviewing and note writing skills, formulate detailed assessments and plans in an inpatient setting and to prepare for a residency in Internal Medicine. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

RMDN 602. Dermatology. 2-4 hours.

During the course of two or four weeks the students should be exposed to approximately 250-500 dermatologic patients. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

RMDN 603. Radiology. 2-4 hours.

The purpose of this elective is to familiarize the student with the scope of diagnostic and interventional radiology. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

RMDN 604. Cardiology Elecrophysiology. 2 hours.

This course will offer Phase 2 and Phase 3 students an opportunity to work with the Electrophysiology subspecialty. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

RMDN 605. Hematology/Oncology. 4 hours.

The hematology/oncology rotation consists of 4 weeks’ time working with a preceptor, witnessing and participating in the inpatient and outpatient care of oncology and hematology patients. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

RMDN 606. Career Exploration - Community-Based Med/Peds. 2 hours.

A 2-week rotation to allow a student to have an extended experience providing ambulatory and hospital care in a more rural setting with somewhat fewer resources than the medical center where their prerequisite clerkship was completed. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

RMDN 607. Allergy/Asthma. 2 hours.

During the rotation, the student will spend 2 weeks focusing on adult and/or pediatric patients. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

RMDN 608. Cardiology. 2-4 hours.

This rotation will allow the student to gain knowledge in various aspects of cardiology. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

RMDN 609. Endocrinology. 2 hours.

Students attend endocrine outpatient clinics, which are held Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

RMDN 610. Gastroenterology. 4 hours.

Functioning much like a medicine intern during this elective. The student will actively participate in the management of an inpatient gastroenterology service at one of the two hospitals covered by Rockford Gastroenterology Associates. RMDN 611. Career Exploration - Community Based Internal Medicine. 2 hours.

RMDN 612. Med/Peds Ambulatory Care. 4 hours.

This 4-week clinical elective in an ambulatory Med/Peds practice will focus on patient evaluation and treatment, development of an ongoing management plan, and practice management in a clinic setting. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

RMDN 613. Infectious Disease Inpatient. 4 hours.

Academic Infectious Disease setting. Students will be expected to perform comprehensive histories & physicals, develop a differential diagnosis and an evaluation/treatment plan. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

RMDN 614. Nephrology. 2-4 hours.

The elective will involve the evaluation and treatment of problems in the scope of nephrology. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

RMDN 615. Pulmonary ICU. 2-4 hours.

Exposure and obtaining experience in both ICU and pulmonary medicine/patients Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

RMDN 616. Palliative Medicine. 2-4 hours.

Seeing patients with physician in the hospital for consultation services; Half day per week supportive oncology clinic, if possible; Half day per week hospice or pal care IDT; and Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

RMDN 617. Rheumatology. 2 hours.

Students will work with various rheumatologists at the Rheumatology Clinic and accompany doctor to the hospital to see inpatient consults. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

RMDN 618. Nutrition. 2 hours.

Student will spend time with the Clinical Dietitian, attending multidisciplinary rounds, visiting, assessing and instructing patients. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

RMDN 619. Neurology. 4 hours.

The objective of this program is to give the student clinical experience in neurology. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

RMDN 620. Ambulatory Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. 2-4 hours.

This elective will include working with Dr. Ryan Enke of Ortholllinois for a two week or four week interval focusing on outpatient Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

RMDN 622. OrthoIllinois Outpatient Musculoskeletal Elective. 2 hours.

This 2-week elective is designed for students that are planning a career in adult primary care (Family Practice or Internal Medicine). Course Information: Field work required. Prerequisite(s): Completion of 3rd Year.

RMDN 680. Adult Internal Medicine Sub-Internship. 4 hours.

Develop the appropriate skills to be ready for the transition to residency including sharpening skills as future diagnosticians, improving interviewing, exam, note writing, and formulating detailed assessments and plans in an inpatient setting.
